After winning the Tuesday night primetime ratings last week, the return of ABC’s usual comedy lineup resulted in multiple downticks for the network.

At 8 p.m., “The Conners” returned from a week off with a 1.0 rating in adults 18-49, down from its last episode’s 1.2 rating and marking a new season low in the 18-49 demo for the series. “Bless This Mess” (0.6) and “Black-ish” (0.5) returned not only down two and three-tenths from their last episodes, but with new season lows as well, while “mixed-ish” (0.6) tied its current season low. ABC’s “Dolly Parton: Here She Comes Again!” special capped off the night for the network, and raked in a 0.6 with 3.96 million viewers.

Elsewhere, NBC’s “The Voice” and “This is Us” returned to the top of the night’s demo rankings, as both shows posted the same 1.3 ratings that they scored a week ago. “New Amsterdam” also held steady week-to-week, winning the 10 p.m. hour with another 0.7.

CBS’ “NCIS” (1.0) and “NCIS: New Orleans” (0.6) similarly matched their ratings from last week, with the former drawing in the night’s largest audience (11.5 million viewers) yet again. “FBI,” however, ticked down from its previous episode’s 0.8 to its first 0.7 of the season so far.

On FOX, “The Resident” (0.7) and “Empire” (0.7) both stayed even with their last outings. The CW, meanwhile, took the night off, and aired only repeats.

Definitions:

Rating: Estimated percentage of the universe of TV households (or other specified group) tuned to a program in the average minute. Ratings are expressed as a percent.
Fast Affiliate Ratings: These first national ratings are available at approximately 11 a.m. ET the day after telecast. The figures may include stations that did not air the entire network feed, as well as local news breaks or cutaways for local coverage or other programming. Fast Affiliate ratings are not as useful for live programs and are likely to differ significantly from the final results, because the data reflect normal broadcast feed patterns.
Share (of Audience):
The percent of households (or persons) using television who are tuned to a specific program, station or network in a specific area at a specific time.
Time Shifted Viewing:
Program ratings for national sources are produced in three streams of data – Live, Live +Same-Day and Live +7 Day. Time-shifted figures account for incremental viewing that takes place with DVRs. Live+SD includes viewing during the same broadcast day as the original telecast, with a cut-off of 3 a.m. local time when meters transmit daily viewing to Nielsen for processing. Live +7 ratings include  viewing that takes place during the 7 days following a telecast.
